We are very excited to have Mrs Swan back until April during her final student teaching experience. She will be with us until April!
Important upcoming dates: We are in-line skating on Wednesday March 11, Thursday March 12 and Monday March 16. I recommend bring in helmets the day before so you don't forget. We'll hang on to them in the classroom until Monday. If students don't have a helmet, one is provided (and sprayed for cleanliness between children).
We had a chance to help Ms Scherschel with this week's announcements! Here we are, being very safe at the sidewalk:
This week in our learning:
Digital literacy: We have been busy! In addition to learning basic coding, we have started using email! Ask your student about his/her email address (hint: FirstnameLastinitialNumber@educbe.ca)
We helped Mrs Krahn's class get on the computers and make a Flappy Bird game, so we got a chance to be peer mentors and leaders. We have also learned some new skills in making Slides, adding text and importing pictures. All students have a google account that matches their student email. Ask and see if they can show you.
Science: We are exploring magnetism. We have learned about polarity and how magnets can make things in the world move.
Math: We are measurement masters! Ask your student about measuring distances!
Language Arts: we continue to work on stories, but we are reading and writing mysteries now! We are putting clues in our stories as our detectives try to solve a puzzle.
Social Studies: This week we finished researching our Arctic animal and building a model to join our zoo!
Art: We are finishing our trip to Iqaluit! We have learned about traditional ways of living, and created this amazing Northern Light over igloo art:
