This week in our learning:
Math: We have reviewed addition and subtraction of smaller numbers, and worked on the Commutative property of addition. You student might refer to this as "moving numbers around and still getting the same answer". Lots of practice and games to help us with this idea!
Science: We have talked about hot and cold and are finding things that are very hot, like suns, and others that are very cold, like distant planets.
Social Studies: As we continue to learn more about maps, students are creating their own maps for places they know. We have also learned a little more about the map of Canada and how to read directions on street maps.
Literacy: We are continuing to work on our stamina. We are building time that we can read independently and quietly, while concentrating on our reading. We are also working on Personal Narratives: writing about ourselves and adding more details (events, reasons and feelings). This week we had a spelling assessment and we'll begin some targeted word work next week.
Digital literacy: No computers this week, although we have used iPads to find very hot and very cold places.
Thank you for all your support at home! Have a lovely fall weekend.
Ms Hatch
