This week in our learning:

Science: We are learning about liquids! After exploring some properties of liquid, we investigated a variety of liquids and asked the question, "What liquids will mix (miscible) and which liquids will not mix (immiscible)?" The results surprised us! We also had liquid races and began to explore viscosity.

Language Arts: This week we spent some time looking at dialogue in our books. We read stories where characters talked using speech bubbles, and stories where the characters were silent. In our writing, we tried experimenting with dialogue and speech. Our current writing goal is to "Get your characters talking".

Math: We have measured! We have measured items in the class room and on our bodies, making sure we are taking accurate measurements using paper clips, blocks, and other non-standard (ie. not a ruler) measurement tools. We'll return to measuring later this year and use standard units (ie. centimeters). Next week we'll be looking at geometric shapes. We also continue to skip count. If you would like to help us practice, we are skip counting by 2's backwards, starting at 50.

Social Studies: We are investigating an prairie community, Saskatoon. We have found it on a map and have begun getting ready for our "virtual visit" to Saskatoon.

Physical Education and Music: Next week we begin our Creative Movement. Make sure you ask me how we're combining gym and music over the next three weeks!

Home Reading: Many students are doing great changing their books in our home reading library. On Monday I'll be sending home their RAZ kids account information. If you would like a jump start, you can go to RAZ kids https://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login and look for the teacher name ken2c Your child's password is their student number. Don't worry if you're unsure, as I'll send home a quick start guide on Monday.

Thank you for all your support at home!
